Third Quarter 2021 Market Update

September is in the record book as the warmest ever in Boston, but the stock market was decidedly cooler, dropping nearly 5%, which is an infernal historical pattern. This volatility followed two relatively strong months of robust returns in the equity markets, led largely by large-cap growth stocks. Uncertainty regarding corporate earnings and inflationary concerns (which we will discuss further) eventually led to some selling off in growth while financials found strength on the back of rising rate expectations. Value stocks did not fare as well while the small-cap sector actually saw negative returns. Read full Update
